Music Performance Course

The music program of OIS allows students to develop their instrumental skills as well as their knowledge of music theory and music history. Progress in music brings students closer to their goal of high school graduation in Ontario, as transfer credits are available for those with Grade 7 and Grade 8 qualifications with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

This course is designed for students who engage in professional instrumental music training, and is open to students of all levels of musicianship, from beginner to advanced.

This course consists of two semesters, each made up of 15 teaching weeks, comprised of one hour musicianship class (online group class) and one hour individual instrumental class (Face-to-Face class) per week. Semesters would conclude with performance evaluations conducted by our teachers, measuring skills and knowledge.

Applicants to the music program will be invited to audition online to assess their level of musical experience, allowing OIS to accurately place them in classes which will continue to foster their growth and skill set.

In accordance with the Ontario Ministry of Education's guidelines on credit transfer, students could receive a maximum of one Grade 11 university/college preparation music credit towards the OSSD with one of the following qualifications:
